Participation in World Forum of Fisher People - 7th General Assembly
Dr.Fr.V.P.Joseph Valiyaveetil participated in the World forum of Fisher people -7th General assembly held at New Delhi.The World Forum of Fisher Peoples (WFFP) is a mass-based social movement of smallscale fisher people from across the world .WFFP was established in response to the increasing pressure being placed on small-scale fisheries, including habitat destruction, anthropogenic pollution, encroachment on small-scale fishing territories by the large scale fishing fleets, illegal fishing and overfishing. Dr.Fr.V.P.Joseph Valiyaveetil highlighted the importance of protecting heritage culture and essence for the survival of fishermen community. It is high time to mobilize the fishermen to protect their livelihood and commons, which are increasingly under threat from over-production and encroachment.
Two day International Seminar at St.Teresa’s College
International Seminar on , Distant Colonies and made up nationswas organized by the Department of English, St.Teresa6s College. The aim of the seminar was to popularize the ethnicart and culture. The seminar created a new insight to young generation. The Seminar gave a scope for creative experiments and presentation in art and folk when it is identified as the essence of our self. To understand the historical significance of our language, it is essential to know the ancient coastal art and literature.

International Seminar on the Portuguese and the Socio-cultural Changes in India (1500-1800)
Documentation on Chavittunadakam was conducted at Gothuruth organized by South Zone cultural centre, Thanjavoor and Kerala folklore academy. It was a five day programme which recorded and identified the roots and tradition of Chavittunadakam.
Thamper - Coastal folkart festival
To promote Heritage art and culture, thereby enhance research in literature, music and classics and to popularise the traditional art forms, every year ,Coastal folk art festival ,Thamper, is conducted for 10 consecutive days in the month of January at Arthunkal, Alappuzha. This festival, conducted by Kreupasanam for the last 12 years, is a venue for the traditional artists to perform their art forms. The contributions made by traditional artists are honored with memento and cash prizes.
